Understanding Hip and Knee Anatomy and Common Causes of Pain

Paul Norio Morton, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in Hawaii specializing in advanced hip and knee care. Raised in Keaʻau on the Big Island, he was inspired to pursue medicine while serving as a volunteer firefighter in Ohio. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, followed by advanced training in orthopedic surgery and a fellowship in joint replacement and reconstruction, with a focus on robotic-assisted techniques.  He is the first orthopedic surgeon in Hawaii to be fellowship-trained in robotic-assisted joint replacement, earning him the nickname “The Robot Doc.”  His expertise includes minimally invasive and muscle-sparing techniques, joint preservation, arthroscopy, and regenerative treatments such as PRP. He treats a wide range of conditions, from osteoarthritis and athletic injuries to complex revision cases.  Dr. Morton practices at multiple locations including Pacific Bone & Joint and Hawaii Sports & Spine Institute and is affiliated with several local hospitals. He combines advanced surgical technology with a personalized, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care.
